Overview

The Chicago office of Lewis Brisbois, a full-service AmLaw 100 firm, is actively seeking an attorney to join its Labor & Employment Practice.

 

The ideal candidate will have at least twelve (12) years of experience in employment law matters, a J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school, be a member of the Illinois bar and have experience practicing employment law, and possess excellent communication skills. Experience with counseling clients on all aspects of the employee life-cycle, class actions and the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act is a plus.  Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin licenses are a plus.

 

Prior employment litigation experience is required (preferably on the management side), and employment counseling or in-house employment law experience is preferred. This is an excellent opportunity for attorneys who are proactive and passionate about assuming a high-level role providing legal service within a sophisticated practice and who are seeking to assume a significant role in all aspects of employment law. This role requires extensive contact with clients, governmental agencies and opposing counsel.

 

Responsibilities include independently managing a caseload from beginning to end, communicating with clients and providing timely internal and external reporting, and working closely with other attorneys and Partners on matters. Candidates should have employment litigation experience, including drafting responsive pleadings, handling all aspects of the discovery process, drafting motions (including motions for summary judgment), depositions, and court appearances as well as experience with the EEOC, IDHR and other Illinois agencies preparing position statements, defending  fact-finding conferences/on-site visits, representing clients in mediations and conciliations, and negotiating settlements.
